In June of 2006 I discovered while out for a ride one afternoon that the left Saddlemen Drifter Slants saddlebag had tore apart in the back of the bag.  Right near the little screws on the hard plastic backing just tore apart apparently under stress. Here a couple of pictures  Hopefully you can see the tear in the back. This caused me a great deal of stress considering that the bags aren't that old (less than 2 years).  I did some research on VTXOA.COM, which by the way is the ultimate message board for anything VTX, and found that this seem to be a common defect for these bags.  Fortunately, all who had this same problem didn't seem to have any problems with customer service at Travelcade, the company who makes the saddlebags.  So I gave them a call.

The CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT AT TRAVELCADE!!  The guy who answered seemed like this was definitely not the first time he heard of this problem.  He quickly took down my name, address and phone number and gave me a customer # which I was instructed to write on the side of the box I ship the bags back in.  All this and he didn't even ask how long I had the bags.  I volunteered that they were less than 2 years old.  He told me he will take a look at them and ship me brand new ones all for free of course.  What a great company that stands by there product 100%!  Damn you don't see that too much anymore.

Take PRO-ONE for example, I bought a pair of those TEARDROP STYLE MIRRORS  from them.  Well only 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT them I noticed little CHROME PITS all up and down the stem of the mirrors.  My bike NEVER sees any rain except for the occasional rain shower I get caught in.  That was disappointing considering they were $100 a piece!  But not as disappointing as when I'm heading to get my cycle inspected and the mirror plat falls out from the backing and smashes all over the highway!!  It appears these $100 chromed-out "masterpieces" were rubber cemented by chimpanzees!  No wonder why the thing fell out.  Jackasses.  I call customer service and the best they can do is replace the mirror for $79.95.  I told the guy that PRO-ONE MIRRORS ARE REAL PIECES OF GARBAGE and wouldn't ever spend another dime on another Pro-One product.  I love letting all my cycle friends know as well and have talked 2 people out of buying their product in just the past 3 weeks!  One was a thousand dollar purchase!  What can I say?  If a company can't stand behind their product the word will be spread.  That's basic principle of business.
